August 29th, Sunday 3:30-5:30 PM; Boys and Girls Club 401 Country Club Lane, Oceanside CA. 

We are currently forming 7th-8th grade team, 5th-6th grade team, 4th grade team, and 2nd-3rd grade teams to showcase at leagues and tournaments on August 29 from 3:30-5:30 PM.  Practice location and information available at www.8020basketball.com.  Please register online prior to try-outs. 

Our belief that a player needs to put time into his/her game with a dedication to a practice routine that will build skill and understanding of the game is a must. 

Every skill level is welcome in our program including beginners.  We teach everyone the game and make each person a better player. 

We will be taking August off to give our athletes a chance to enjoy the rest of the summer and prepare for the next school year.  Our Shots-Up Skills Training will resume in September along with travel team play.  We will have a few free workouts in mid August to showcase our program for new athletes who wants to learn and continue their training.  Please check our website www.8020basketball.com as time dates and locations will be posted on our website of any upcoming events.  Again, we thank you for all your support and look forward to you taking your game to a new level, one pass, one dribble, one shot at a time.

Lynne will be sending a final billing for the remainder of the month for tournaments. The final fee slate needs to be paid by this Saturday.  Some parties will receive refunds if due at the end of the month. 

The ARC event cost was changed to $48 from $70 per person,  The USJN fee and the Independence day event was recalculated to show only (9) team members paying for that event. 

With that said every individual will receive a bill specific to them and please pay accordingly.  The Las Vegas event will be posted early next week and will reflect a cost change also based on current commitment of 7 players.

We still do not know game time or opponent for tomorrows first game.  As soon as I know I will post and email, followed by a phone call.  We will not attend NCAA meeting at 9am,  but hold meeting before first game per director message.  I think our game will be around noon so we would need to be at UCI at 11:00AM OR EARLIER. 

Again sorry for inconvenience, but we have not gotten an updated schedule, and current schedule would not work for us based on opponents age.

We are still awaiting game times for the event on Tuesday July 6th,2010.  All players must be at the Bren Events Center (UCI) for the NCAA seminar.  Our game times will change from current schedule so please do not go by posted schedule as of 7/5/2010 11 am. 

It looks like we will play three games the first day and two games the second day.  After that will be based on results.  Please stand by for more information later today.  Brackets are being changed to reflect age appropriate scheduling.

Hi this is Coach Winn, I will be arriving on Saturday morning due to work, and a need to attend a recruits graduation.  So is the life of a coach. I am attaching by the link below all necessary information you will need for the camp.  This is for general information, and to give you an overview of what the camp is all about. 

Please do not try to check in by yourself.  Please meet me at 8:00am on Saturday morning, and I will check everyone in and get them keys and room assignments.  If you have not travel before in a team setting like this then it is important to stay with the game plan.  

(Important) I need each player to fill out the attached waiver form and give it to me when we meet Saturday morning.  The waiver is part of the linked information.

This event is a great event and a good chance for the kids to view and spend time with college athletes.  It is also a good time for parents to let their kids grow with responsibility and learn to do for themselves as they are entering high school for the most part next year, or are already in high school.  Note: You probably wonder what I mean? Example:  At 14 years old a player should be able to get water or whatever ready before the game starts, and not have parents running it over at last minute.   Players should have all their uniforms and equipment ready and focused on the job at hand without parent interference 1/2 to 1 hour prior to a game.  Basically, we are going to learn what game face really means during the next few weeks.   

I am very happy with this group, as the kids are doing a great job.  

Annette and Lynne will be facilitating any off court, and team events other than the camp itself.  I will be keeping them abreast of our plans once the event starts.  Annette has volunteered to bring snacks and water for this event, and we will have videotaping going on for portion of the camp.

A group will be leaving from Saddleback College at 5AM on Saturday.  Please feel free to join the pack.  We will be meeting in the gym parking lot near the pool.

Dear Parent and Player,

As summer approaches and this group of 80/20 members embark on preparing for their high school seasons I have put together a schedule that will allow you to improve as a player, and develop the kind of real live game skills it will take to be successful in the upcoming season. 

I am looking for 10 committed people who can make every practice and tournament event on the schedule.  Those individuals can be currently in the in the 9^th grade for the 2010 school year and younger.  The team will be made up primarily of our 8^th and 9^th graders with some younger kids who can compete at a higher level.

My goal is to give this group an insight into high-level basketball, and an introduction of what it takes to grow their game, and reap the reward of a focus on training that we have been committed to on a daily basis. 

I will coach the team and prepare them for this summer training season.  My expectation is not to have anyone play who doesn’t commit fully. 

Players are encouraged to play with their high school teams and continue to build a relationship with their high school coaches.  Work with their coaches keeping them informed of schedule conflicts.   Being a long time club and high school coach I understand keeping that relationship strong.  However, a high school coach who doesn’t see the value of your participation with this kind of program is a self centered coach and a detriment to your long-term growth.

The cost for the entire summer season is posted for this group on the 80/20 website. And if a person can’t afford it they will need to reach out to family members, relatives, and look for assistance from those and other resources available to them.

My time is very valuable and I expect each player to make the commitment. I am personally looking forward to taking a group to the next level, and teaching them the essentials of success.  Additional practices will be scheduled for this team currently projected to be on Saturday mornings prior to Shots-Up workouts.

Current 80/20 team members will have the first shot to fill the spots for the summer season, and then it will be opened to outside players who have an interest in playing on the team.  On 5/26/2010 every HS coach in SD and OC will receive a request for players to fill team if it has not been filled.  If we receive enough interest from playing we will have two teams playing under the same commitments.
