AAU Sports Sets New Bounderies To Help Protect Children From Predators
I Teach Hoops Basketballis the umbrella message coach Winn uses to brand his basketball training programs. Coach Winn and his staff are essentially basketball scholars who share their wisdom and ability to teach the game with the young people who embrace their message.
The 80/20 training program derived from a concept of getting kids to understand how much practice is necessary in order to become a great player. We believe that at a youth level through the 10th grade 80% percent of a player’s resources should go to practice and skill building throughout the year, and about 20 percent of time committed to game play.
“When you are not practicing hard and getting better you must remember that your competition is, and when you meet; he or she will beat you”
Coach Winn modeled the core of 80/20 training after the highly successful Future Stars program he founded in 1987. The Future Stars program was a fundamental first program which trained hundreds kids throughout the Greater San Diego area.
The roots of 80/20 Basketball Training dating back to the mid-eighties establishes Coach Winn’s programs as among the longest running, and successful programs in the history of California youth basketball.
Many of our alumni have played collegiate ball, and some are current and past and professionals. We are proud of all the past club members who have come through our doors and not play college basketball, but enjoyed success in basketball while meeting their educational goals.
We know that their time with us played a role in their lives, and we take great pride in knowing that the core learning’s of hard work and dedication will assist them in life’s journey beyond basketball.
